Kansas City Space Pirates’ Brian Turner to be interviewed tomorrow

I received this email from Eric Rager of Zookers Radio:

“Join the Zookers Radio Program on Saturday, October 6th at 7:00 pm central time for an interview with Brian Turner of the Kansas City Space Pirates.  Brian and his team are competing in the Spaceward Games 2007 with their space elevator design.

This show is hosted by “Rob and Eric, the Greek Gods of Internet Radio”.  By Zeus that’s a great tagline!!

They have their other shows archived, so I’m sure this one will be too – if you miss the live broadcast, you can catch-up with it later.  I’ll post the link when it becomes available.

I just saw Brian Turner interviewed by Conan O’Brien and am
still incredulous. Is this guy (Turner) serious or a scam artist or
merely a loose cannon (a nut job who should be committed to an
    institution)?

No, he’s quite serious. What Brian is doing (along with his team), is creating an entry into the Space Elevator Games, a competition funded by NASA (4 million dollars) to develop technologies that could be used by a Space Elevator. The concept is sound – the physics ‘work’ – we’re waiting for the carbon nanotubes to be produced in the sufficient quantity and quality before work could actually begin. If you visit http://www.spaceward.org, you can learn more about the Space Elevator Games.

I have known Brian Turner since we were 12 years old. He is brilliant and outside the box thinker. The amazing thing is that he only has a high school diploma. He owned the contract for several school districts for IT support and a private consultant by the age of 22.
