I think the top three reasons should be:
#3) I own stock in Boeing
#2) I own stock in Lockheed
#1) I’m a Senator who gets bribes from Boeing and Lockheed.

I think that space elevators are great. Mainly because they are:
1) cheaper
2) cooler
3) and use carbon nanotubes (if you don’t think those are awesome, then you suck)
