Proposed: build a skyscraper

At the mensnewsdaily.com blog, Karl Lembke references the proposal for the Republicans to add a plank to their 2006 campaign in support of building a space elevator. Karl notes that Jerry Pournelle has opined that for the cost of the first year’s war in Iraq, the US could have built and launched a solar-power satellite system.

i had a nice long chat with prof miller, after he posted his article. it was very interesting, and we are looking at perhaps doing some work together. i am not interested in making this a political left vrs right issue, i think that would be a disaster. but i am very encouraged that this is becoming a poltical topic. it will make my trips to washington dc a lot easier.
