{"id":787,"date":"2007-10-16T17:47:05","date_gmt":"2007-10-16T22:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=787"},"modified":"2007-10-16T17:47:05","modified_gmt":"2007-10-16T22:47:05","slug":"2007-space-elevator-games-entry-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=787","title":{"rendered":"2007 Space Elevator Games &#8211; (Entry 19)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/media\/2007SEGames\/20071016\/DSC00041.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"\/media\/2007SEGames\/20071016\/tn_DSC00041.jpg\"  \/><\/a>Once again, weather is playing havoc with the Space Elevator Games.\u00a0 The wind (and now rain) conditions today have limited qualification attempts to just one, the failed attempt by UBC-Snowstar.\u00a0 Both E-T-C and the Technology Tycoons were also ready to attempt to qualify, but weather prevented it.<\/p>\n<p>The forecast is now looking pretty gloomy for the Salt Lake City area for the next few days.\u00a0 Because of that, there is now a contingency plan in place to extend the Games by up to two days (through Tuesday, October 23rd,\u00a0IF NECESSARY.\u00a0 A Team Captain meeting was just held to inform the teams of this possible change of plans.<\/p>\n<p>Of course this\u00a0will play havoc with travel schedules, school schedules (for our High School and University students), work schedules, etc.\u00a0 The Davis County Fairgrounds has kindly made their facility available for the extra two days if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>This sucks, but we really can&#8217;t control the weather.\u00a0 Hopefully things will clear up, at least enough to qualify the Climbers for their runs before the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The Light Racers and the Tether Pull competitions, as they&#8217;re being held indoors, will still be held on Saturday, October 20th.<\/p>\n<p>Again, these are contingency plans, hopefully not necessary.\u00a0 But we want to be ready if weather does not cooperate.<\/p>\n<p>(The picture is of the deserted competition &#8220;ring&#8221;.\u00a0 As always, click on it for a larger version of the picture.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Once again, weather is playing havoc with the Space Elevator Games.\u00a0 The wind (and now rain) conditions today have limited qualification attempts to just one, the failed attempt by UBC-Snowstar.\u00a0 Both E-T-C and the Technology Tycoons were also ready to attempt to qualify, but weather prevented it.
