{"id":762,"date":"2007-10-10T13:27:59","date_gmt":"2007-10-10T18:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=762"},"modified":"2007-10-10T13:27:59","modified_gmt":"2007-10-10T18:27:59","slug":"winnow-winnow-winnow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=762","title":{"rendered":"Winnow, winnow, winnow&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" width=\"108\" src=\"\/media\/Elevator2010Logo.jpg\"  height=\"53\" style=\"width: 108px; height: 53px\" \/>I&#8217;ve heard from several more teams (Space Elevator Team at UT, Recens, Team Rambo I \/ Team Telsa, Queens Space Elevator Racing Team, Lone Star and MIT) that they are NOT competing this year in the Climber \/ Power-Beaming competition (MIT will still be competing in the Tether competition).<\/p>\n<p>So, this is what I know so far:<\/p>\n<p>Teams definitely in:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>#230 &#8211; McGill\u00a0 Space Elevator Team (possibly in conjunction with Punkworks &#8211; more on this later) &#8211; Searchlights or Microwave<\/p>\n<p>#234 &#8211; Kansas City Space Pirates &#8211; Solar<\/p>\n<p>#235 &#8211; LaserMotive &#8211; Laser<\/p>\n<p>#241 &#8211; USST &#8211; Laser<\/p>\n<p>#253 &#8211; UBC Snowstar &#8211; Solar<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Teams definitely out:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>#222 &#8211; Starlifters<\/p>\n<p>#226 &#8211; MIT Space Elevator Team (again Climber \/ Power-Beaming only &#8211; Tether team will play)<\/p>\n<p>#228 &#8211; Team Telsa<\/p>\n<p>#236 &#8211; Andromeda Connection<\/p>\n<p>#239 &#8211; M Climber<\/p>\n<p>#240 &#8211; Lone Star<\/p>\n<p>#242 &#8211; Queens Space Elevator Racing Team<\/p>\n<p>#244 &#8211; Recens<\/p>\n<p>#245 &#8211; Space Elevator Team at UT (University of Tennessee)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Teams I have not heard from:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>#221 &#8211; Space Invaders<\/p>\n<p>#225 &#8211; Team Zero G<\/p>\n<p>#237 &#8211; University of Alberta Space Elevator Racing Team<\/p>\n<p>#238 &#8211; Uplifting Experience<\/p>\n<p>#243 &#8211; Lite Won (Technology Tycoons) &#8211; Last year&#8217;s second best finisher<\/p>\n<p>#246 &#8211; University of Idaho Engineering<\/p>\n<p>#249 &#8211; E-T-C (I&#8217;m pretty sure they&#8217;re playing but haven&#8217;t heard from them definitively yet &#8211; they might be in transit from Japan)<\/p>\n<p>#250 &#8211; Centaurus<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m disappointed, of course, that not all of the teams can make it, but I&#8217;m especially disappointed that neither of the two European entries (Team Telsa and Recens) will be here.\u00a0 Recens was cursed with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=425\">tremendously bad luck<\/a> last year and the Space Elevator Gods should have put this situation aright.\u00a0 I guess it was not to be.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m fairly sure that at least 3-4 entrants from the &#8220;Don&#8217;t know&#8221; list will be playing too, but I won&#8217;t move them to the &#8220;Definitely in&#8221; list until I&#8217;m &#8220;Definitely sure&#8221; \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Both teams listed for the Tether competition (Astroaranaea and MIT) WILL be there.<\/p>\n<p>As I get more replies or information from other sources, I will update this list.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve heard from several more teams (Space Elevator Team at UT, Recens, Team Rambo I \/ Team Telsa, Queens Space Elevator Racing Team, Lone Star and MIT) that they are NOT competing this year in the Climber \/ Power-Beaming competition (MIT will still be competing in the Tether competition).
