{"id":602,"date":"2007-04-26T22:41:26","date_gmt":"2007-04-27T03:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=602"},"modified":"2007-05-04T00:00:31","modified_gmt":"2007-05-04T05:00:31","slug":"russia-to-build-lunar-base-and-space-elevator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=602","title":{"rendered":"Russia to build lunar base and space elevator?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techtakeaway.com\/space_elevator.php\">posting<\/a> on TechTakeaway.com, the author claims that &#8220;Transporting goods from earth to the moon and back has caused problems to efforts colonize the Moon, Russia plans to solve this with an ambitious space elevator project.&#8221;\u00a0 They accompany this short article with an artists conception picture of an earth-based space elevator.<\/p>\n<p>Frankly, I don&#8217;t think so, and have contacted the authors for more information.<\/p>\n<p>Their source may be the two articles I had blogged about earlier (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=463\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=465\">here<\/a>), but the Space Elevators discussed in those two articles were based in outer space, in both lunar and earth orbit.<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;d love to be wrong.\u00a0 Maybe we&#8217;ll finally have\u00a0a &#8220;Tsar-way to Heaven&#8221; after all (apologies to Led Zeppelin)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>(01MAY2007 Update &#8211; I heard back from the editors and yes, indeed, they did get their story from the articles I mentioned.\u00a0 I sent an email back to them, letting them know of the miscommunication.)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent posting on TechTakeaway.com, the author claims that &#8220;Transporting goods from earth to the moon and back has caused problems to efforts colonize the Moon, Russia plans to solve this with an ambitious space elevator project.&#8221;\u00a0 They accompany this short article with an artists conception picture of an earth-based space elevator.
