{"id":311,"date":"2006-08-25T01:28:59","date_gmt":"2006-08-25T06:28:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=311"},"modified":"2006-08-25T01:40:49","modified_gmt":"2006-08-25T06:40:49","slug":"something-to-see-eh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=311","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Something to see, eh?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My search engines just turned up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beyondsciencepodcast.com\/?p=9\">this interview<\/a> by\u00a0our Canadian friends at BeyondScience.com with Sir Charles Shults III and his views on the Space Elevator.\u00a0 This broadcast was originally aired in December, 2005.<\/p>\n<p>As an aside, I&#8217;ve greatly enjoyed reading the postings at various forums arguing about whether &#8220;Sir&#8221; Charles is really a knight or not.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not a Brit,\u00a0so I don&#8217;t know (and I don&#8217;t care).\u00a0 But the arguments are great fun.<\/p>\n<p>In this interview, he does\u00a0have his Space Elevator &#8220;facts&#8221; correct.\u00a0 In addition, he mentioned a possible use of the Space Elevator that I hadn&#8217;t heard of before,\u00a0using it to deliver\u00a0payloads to various earth locations.\u00a0 I&#8217;d always heard\/read about using the Space Elevator to launch payloads to the moon and some of the planets, but I don&#8217;t see why what he suggests wouldn&#8217;t work.\u00a0 There will be those, of course, who will suggest that such deliveries could be designed with hostile intent.\u00a0 Yet another reason why we Americans need to do this first&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My search engines just turned up this interview by\u00a0our Canadian friends at BeyondScience.com with Sir Charles Shults III and his views on the Space Elevator.\u00a0 This broadcast was originally aired in December, 2005.
