{"id":1868,"date":"2014-10-24T00:33:38","date_gmt":"2014-10-24T05:33:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1868"},"modified":"2014-10-24T00:33:38","modified_gmt":"2014-10-24T05:33:38","slug":"the-dire-earth-cycle-trilogy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1868","title":{"rendered":"The Dire Earth Cycle Trilogy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Something else to put on my reading list&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>American Author <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonhough.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jason Hough<\/a> has penned a trilogy which seems to have not one, but two space elevators as central objects in the plot.\u00a0 <strong>The Dire Earth Cycle<\/strong>, released in three parts in July, August &amp; September of 2013 (yes, I know, I&#8217;m late to this, but hey, the Prequel won&#8217;t be released until November of this year!), tells us the story of:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"\/media\/TheDarwinElevatorCover.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"\/media\/TheDarwinElevatorCover.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"130\" height=\"227\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Darwin-Elevator-Dire-Earth-Cycle-ebook\/dp\/B00BABT9VY\/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1414127979&amp;sr=1-2\" target=\"_blank\">Part 1 &#8211; The Darwin Elevator<\/a><\/strong>: <em>In the mid-23rd century, Darwin, Australia, stands as the last human city on Earth. The world has succumbed to an alien plague, with most of the population transformed into mindless, savage creatures. But they are soon under attack from a roving band of plague-immune soldiers. While Skyler\u2019s team of immune scavengers scatters around the disease-ravaged globe in search of the artifacts, Skyler himself finds much more than he expected in the African desert, where he stumbles upon surprising Builder relics\u2014and thousands of bloodthirsty subhumans.
