A couple of weekends ago, the second annual\u00a0European Space Elevator Competition (EUSPEC)<\/a>\u00a0was held. \u00a0ISEC’s own Martin Lades attended this event and has been able to send me some preliminary pictures and information. \u00a0Winter has arrived early in Europe this year and Martin reports that the first climb was held in the snow! \u00a0Martin reports:<\/p>\n

“The issue was of course the weather with rain and snow on the second day. \u00a0Picture attached. ~50m climb track.” This is the picture thumbnail in the upper left.<\/p>\n

Martin also sent 3 other pictures (taken by Julius Hein) of the competitors enjoying the snow.<\/p>\n

The competition was organized by TU Munich as EuSPEC, the\u00a0WARR working group<\/a>, one of the oldest university working groups in Germany, and\u00a0Eurospaceward<\/a>\u00a0is a sponsor.<\/p>\n
