{"id":1460,"date":"2011-01-27T18:42:45","date_gmt":"2011-01-28T00:42:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1460"},"modified":"2011-01-27T18:42:45","modified_gmt":"2011-01-28T00:42:45","slug":"the-2011-space-elevator-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1460","title":{"rendered":"The 2011 Space Elevator Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve gotten way behind in my blogging &#8211; there&#8217;s a lot to announce, so I&#8217;ve got plenty to blog about over the next several weeks.<\/p>\n<p>First up is the 2011 Space Elevator Conference.\u00a0 This is now &#8216;officially on&#8217; for August 12-14 (with a public presentation on the night of August 11) at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond, Washington &#8211; the location of the last several Space Elevator Conferences.<\/p>\n<p>I am on the planning committee and I can tell you that we are way head of last year (and previous years) in planning for the conference &#8211; and it promises to be the best one yet.<\/p>\n<p>The Theme of the conference is going to be the 2011 ISEC Theme; &#8220;<em>Developing stronger, lighter tethers &#8211; 30MYuri or bust!<\/em>&#8221; (more about the theme in an upcoming post).\u00a0 Because of this, we hope to attract a crowd of nanotube researchers as well as the more &#8216;traditional&#8217; space elevator people (if you can use the words &#8216;traditional&#8217; and &#8216;space elevator&#8217; in the same sentence ?).<\/p>\n<p>More details will be announced soon on the official website of the conference (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorconference.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.spaceelevatorconference.org<\/a>).\u00a0 If you&#8217;re interested in space elevators and\/or interested in ultra-strong tether technology, this will be a conference you won&#8217;t want to miss.<\/p>\n<p>See you there!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve gotten way behind in my blogging &#8211; there&#8217;s a lot to announce, so I&#8217;ve got plenty to blog about over the next several weeks.
