{"id":1451,"date":"2010-12-07T01:31:47","date_gmt":"2010-12-07T07:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1451"},"modified":"2010-12-07T01:31:47","modified_gmt":"2010-12-07T07:31:47","slug":"3rd-jpsec-conference-jpsec-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1451","title":{"rendered":"3rd JpSEC conference &#8211; JpSEC &#8217;10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/2010JpSEC\/JpSEC10Logo.png\" width=\"175\" class=\"alignleft\" height=\"87\"  \/>And, no sooner than we have wrapped up the Fourth EuroSpaceward conference than it&#8217;s time to remind people about the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsea.jp\/2010-11-12-JpSEC2010\">Japan Space Elevator Conference (JpSEC &#8217;10)<\/a> to be held next weekend (December 11th and 12th).<\/p>\n<p>I would love to go, but the conference will be all in Japanese and my knowledge of that language is limited to a few uncomplimentary words and phrases I&#8217;ve heard from my (Japanese) wife&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The Director of the Japan Space Elevator Association, Mr. Hideyuki Natsume, has sent me an updated flyer of the conference &#8211; you can access it here (<a href=\"\/media\/2010JpSEC\/2010-12-3-JpSEC-Flyer-E.doc\" target=\"_blank\">.doc format<\/a> \/ <a href=\"\/media\/2010JpSEC\/2010-12-3-JpSEC-Flyer-E.pdf\">.pdf format<\/a>).\u00a0 All of it looks very interesting, but the presentation I would like to hear above all is Dr. Yoku Inoue&#8217;s discussion of <strong><em>Progress in constructing Lightweight, High-Strength carbon nanotubes<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Dr. Inoue is from Shizuoka university &#8211; a CNT tether from them was the only entry in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1260\" target=\"_blank\">2009 Strong Tether Challenge<\/a>.\u00a0 I&#8217;m surprised they did not return for the 2010 competition and can only hope we see an entry from them for the 2011 competition.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure this will be a very successful conference and I hope to be able to report on some of the presentations which were made there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And, no sooner than we have wrapped up the Fourth EuroSpaceward conference than it&#8217;s time to remind people about the upcoming Japan Space Elevator Conference (JpSEC &#8217;10) to be held next weekend (December 11th and 12th).
