{"id":1427,"date":"2010-10-21T20:38:24","date_gmt":"2010-10-22T02:38:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1427"},"modified":"2010-11-10T13:00:28","modified_gmt":"2010-11-10T19:00:28","slug":"eurospaceward-announces-eusec-the-first-european-space-elevator-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1427","title":{"rendered":"EuroSpaceward announces EuSEC &#8211; the first European Space Elevator Challenge!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/2011EuSEC\/tn_EuSEC2011_Poster.png\" width=\"140\" class=\"alignright\" height=\"200\"  \/>Exciting news &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eurospaceward.org\" target=\"_blank\">EuroSpaceward<\/a> has today announced <a href=\"http:\/\/eusec.warr.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">EuSEC<\/a> &#8211; the first European Space Elevator Challenge!<\/p>\n<p>This competition is being organized by WARR, the Scientific work-group for rocketry and space flight of the Technical University of Munich in cooperation with the Technical University of Munich, the Klaus H\u00f6chstetter Foundation,\u00a0 Lrt, the Institute of Astronautics and EuroSpaceward.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the competition is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>make it ecology minded<br \/>\nmake it efficient<br \/>\nmake it European<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And the focus of the competition is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>efficiency<br \/>\ntechnical implementation<br \/>\nreference to the &#8216;real Space Elevator&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The competition is scheduled to be held from June 10-12, 2011, with backup dates set as June 16-18, 2011, and the location will be in Germany at the campus of the Technical University of Munich &#8211; Campus Garching (Garching Forschungszentrum).\u00a0 Several prizes are offered, with the top prize being 2,000 Euros.<\/p>\n<p>Enquiries about the competition should be sent to Franciska Volgyi, the technical and organizational lead, or Andreas Fleischner, responsible for the SE agenda at WARR.\u00a0 Both can be reached at (spaceelevator [at] warr.de).<\/p>\n<p>Details about the competition can be found in <a href=\"\/media\/2011EuSEC\/EuSEC2011_Handbook.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">this handbook<\/a>.\u00a0 A <a href=\"\/media\/2011EuSEC\/EuSEC2011_Handout.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">competition flyer<\/a>, a <a href=\"\/media\/2011EuSEC\/EuSEC2011_Presentation.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">powerpoint presentation<\/a> and <a href=\"\/media\/2011EuSEC\/EuSEC2011_Poster.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">poster<\/a> have been created as well as a <a href=\"http:\/\/eusec.warr.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> for this Challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Mark your calendars &#8211; this should be a lot of fun!<\/p>\n<p>This now makes a total of five space elevator games \/ challenges now in existence.\u00a0 We have the two American Space Elevator Games (the Climber \/ Power-Beaming challenge and the Strong Tether Challenge), the two Japan Space Elevator Games (JSETEC and LASER) and now the European Space Elevator Challenge (EuSEC).\u00a0 I love it!<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to WARR, the Technical University of Munich,\u00a0  the Klaus H\u00f6chstetter Foundation,\u00a0 Lrt, the Institute of Astronautics and EuroSpaceward for making this happen!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Exciting news &#8211; EuroSpaceward has today announced EuSEC &#8211; the first European Space Elevator Challenge!
