{"id":1148,"date":"2009-01-26T04:43:48","date_gmt":"2009-01-26T10:43:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1148"},"modified":"2009-01-26T04:57:22","modified_gmt":"2009-01-26T10:57:22","slug":"upcoming-aiaa-space-conference-to-have-a-space-tethers-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaceelevatorblog.com\/?p=1148","title":{"rendered":"Upcoming AIAA Space conference to have a &#8220;Space Tethers&#8221; track"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" width=\"158\" src=\"\/media\/AIAALogo.jpg\"  height=\"66\" style=\"width: 158px; height: 66px\" \/>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aiaa.org\/\">American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)<\/a> hosts several conferences each year.\u00a0 In this year&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aiaa.org\/content.cfm?pageid=230&amp;lumeetingid=2074&amp;viewcon=overview\">Space 2009 Conference and Exposition<\/a>, being held in Pasadena, California in September of this year,they are having a track on &#8216;Space Tethers and Technology&#8217;.\u00a0 From the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aiaa.org\/events\/space\/09-0038_Call%20for%20papers_final.pdf\">conference flyer<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" width=\"105\" src=\"\/media\/Space2009Logo.jpg\"  height=\"207\" style=\"width: 105px; height: 207px\" \/><strong>Space Tethers and Technology<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Space tethers show great promise for enabling a variety of future space missions, both as engineering components and as scientific components. Applications of space tethers include propulsion, space structures, remote sensing, and artificial gravity, to name a few. To date, several tethered missions have flown and many more have been proposed for flight. This track will focus on the missions enabled and the technologies necessary for exploiting the use of space tethers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Technical topics include:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Missions Enabled by Space Tethers<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Technologies to Support Space Tether Missions<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>For questions, please contact:<br \/>\nSven G.
