LiftPort – RIP?

This was posted on the LiftPort blog on Monday.  Grim news, indeed…

If this is really true, I (and others) will have much to say in the near future, I’m sure.

The latest from Patrick over at the Space Elevator Journal…

Darnell Clayton from Colony Worlds posts his thoughts here

And the ever-present Brian Dunbar (from LiftPort) comments here

Finally, in a comment on a truly awesome posting from Almost Girl, the man, Michael Laine, posts his thoughts…

17APR07 – Update.  Michael Laine has given us his thoughts in a comment on this post.  And Marc Boucher, over at the Space Elevator Reference, has also posted his thoughts

ted, we are not done! “the rumors of our demise have been greatly exagerated…” that said, yes, we are hurt, and hurt bad. but, we had a serious meeting yesterday with the team, and we have the beginnings of a plan. i will post a lot on our blog tonight, once i am done writing a few things down. after that, i will begin blogging 2 or 3 times a day, because things are literally moving that fast.

believe it or not, we actually had several peices of good news last week, while i was a guest at this: http://www.colorado.edu/cwa/

take a look at the guest list, and let your mind wander about the sorts of people i met, and the kinds of projects that were proposed. i am working on several projects, as a result of attending. http://www.colorado.edu/cwa/participants.html?year=2007

i can honestly tell you, that had this problem happened with the building independantly, without the CWA, i would seriously consider closing the doors. however, as it happened on the last day of that conference, i was able to develop so many allies and friends and advocates from this single event, that i believe i have a plan to pull us out of the hole we are in.

it wont be easy. the hole is deep. but remember this – we are building an elevator to space, its not supposed to be easy, right?

we will be blogging a lot more, and sending out a newsletter this thursday that will have more details.

take care. and thanks for your continued support.
