    I would rather see a space elevator that was able to differentially vent CO2 out of the atmosphere and into space. These could be strategically placed such that the ozone gaps could eventually close or be made smaller.

    While transporting people into space is exciting and important, transporting people who were not consumed by skin cancer would be more desirable. It is simply a matter of figuring out which should happen first.

    Elevators that act as selective shafts for unhealthy pollutants would be a great way to iron out the wrinkles, so to speak. Potential hazards could be experienced and dealt with, without having to sacrifice life (human or animal).
