Because this year’s Space Elevator Games have been moved back to sometime in mid-late October, the dates for the EuroSpaceward conference (Space Elevator and CNT Tether Design – 2nd International Conference) being held in Luxembourg has been moved back to December 6th and 7th.

The list of presentations and speakers is too extensive to go into here – see the conference program for more details. However, I can say it is very extensive and ambitious and should be a great event to attend. I, for one, plan on being there and I hope to see you there too!
26JUL08 Update – I just received this email from Markus Klettner, head of EuroSpaceward:

Almost all key note speakers have already confirmed their participation (e.g.: Prof. Charles Cockell, Open University UK, Prof. Vesselin Shanov, University of Cincinnati USA, Prof. Cécile Zakri, Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal France, Dr. Marcelo Motta, Cambridge University, Dr. David Raitt, ESA, and of course our highly appreciated US SE experts!). The only significant confirmation missing is the one from Andy Petro, NASA. I hope to be able to convince him to spend an exciting weekend in Luxembourg 🙂

I am with the newly established JPL Space Foundation. http://www.jplspacefoundation.org . The foundation will basiclly support research into finding an affordable, reliable and safe access to space. We believe the Space Elevator has the best chance of meeting these three requirments. I have talked with many people about a way to raise money to support the Space Elevator. I just recently found a way that we all can do something to raise money. There is a new search engine called Good Search which is powered by Yahoo that will contribute one cent to a charity of your choice every time you use Good Search to look up anything on the web. All you need do is go to: http://www.jplspacefoundation.org and click the Good Search Banner and download the Good Search search bar when you get to their site. Choose JPL Space Foundation as your Charity, if it doesn’t show up automaticlly and then surf the web as usual using Good Search. All proceeds will be used to support research for the Space Elevator and the conferences each year.
Also, if you shop online a good deal, just click the Good Search logo on the search bar and then the Good Shop link and again choose JPL Space Foundation as your charity and you can shop from Amazon to Sears to Wal-Mart and many others. A percentage of your purchase will go to support the Foundation. I know a few percent or a few cents per person isn’t much, but all of us together and all our friends that might like to help can make a big difference over time.
